The figure of the Data Protection Officer ( DPO) is mandatory in public administrations in accordance with the provisions of Article 37 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of data and repealing Directive 95/46/EC.
Alcoy Town Council, in compliance with the aforementioned obligation, has created the figure of the Data Protection Delegate, which has been communicated to the Spanish Data Protection Agency.
The regulation and functions of the DPD are established in articles 37, 38 and 39 of Regulation 679/2016.
